Artist Bio
Ray Jiang is an artist who lives in Houston in the United States, and claims to be a ferryman. He is the president of the US-China Artists Association, the chairman of the American Youth Ambassador Foundation, and the former chairman of the Panorama China Program of the Houston International Film Festival. He graduated from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in the 1990s and went to the United States for further studies in the late 1990s. In 1998 he won the St. Thomas University on a full scholarship and completed a master's degree in 2002. He has been engaged in art practice and research for nearly 30 years, and has created many representative works, which are collected by different museums. Ray expresses the profound essence and human emotions through abstract and concrete forms and brilliant colors, and skillfully uses visual language to convey the depth beyond culture. He participated and exhibited in Art Basel Miami (red dot exhibition area) in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, and Santa Fe Art Festival in 2017.

Artist Statement
For the last 30 years,I have been working with oil paintings. In recent years, I paint a series of deeply-felt themes such as life, love, death, sex, woman and dreams. My approach is between surrealism, minimalism, and symbolism. And my expression of the inherent meaning of the subjects in my paintings. I believe painting is the most gorgeous thing, and I am more active in using color to express my own things, feelings, and internal spirit. Art should reflect an emotion or idea rather than represent the natural world in the objective. I Hope everyone sees and feels differently from my work, because each of my oil paintings has its own connection with different audiences.
